The Disappearing ACt

is Jay T.’s first album release, in 2014.  This project captures a diverse audience and sound of music, reaching into various genres: Gospel, Gospel R&B, Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), Traditional Gospel, Quartet, Rock, Praise and Worship, and Spanish as well.  Why The Disappearing Act?  It’s simple: when questioned about Jesus baptizing disciples, John the Baptist celebrated the moment and declared that “He (Jesus) must increase and I (John) must decrease,” (John 3.30).  The Disappearing Act is a 16-track concept album that invites the listener into the embrace of God, to have an encounter and experience with God.  The music and melodies simply leads the listener there.

National & International Travel

The Lord has opened doors for me to travel abroad to share my music singers and choirs all over the Untied States of America, and from all over the world.

  • Örnsköldsvik (Övik), Sweden

    GospelFesten 2013, 2016, and 2019. In 2019, I was blessed to bring a group of singers and musicians to Övik for a weeklong tour of concerts and gospel music workshops. I affectionately call Övik my second home having made very good friends and family over the years.

  • Stockholm, Sweden

    I was blessed to be the headline guest gospel music artist from the United States at the Stockholm Gospelmusik Festival in 2013 and 2014.

  • Krefeld, Germany

    2002 I came with the Baldwin Wallace University Voices of Praise Gospel Choir as the guest choir for the Krefelder Gospelmusik Festival. I returned in 2006, directing the Voices of Praise this time, at the same festival, the Krefelder Gospelmusik Festival.

  • Zweibrücken, Germany

    In 2017 I was privileged to accompany on piano, my good friend, singer and choir leader, Malcolm Chambers.

Voices of Praise Gospel Choir

Baldwin Wallace University

Jay has served as the director of this choir since fall of 2007.  Before then, he was the Student Director and Choir President during his years of undergraduate study at Baldwin Wallace University.  He’s been a member of this choir since 1996.  Loving gospel music, he always tagged along in rehearsals with his father, Jay T. Hairston Sr., and they soon discovered he was a solid voice that anchored the tenor section!

Needless to say, VOP has been a significant and longstanding part of Jay T.’s life.
